In this Comment, Leigh B. Ackal discusses the treatment of negligent credentialing claims in Louisiana and the implications of the Louisiana Supreme Court’s recent decision in Billeaudeau v. Opelousas General Hospital Authority, 2016-0846 (La. 10/19/16); 218 So. 3d 513, wherein the court held that negligent credentialing claims do not fall within the purview of the Louisiana Medical Malpractice Act. This Comment explores Billeaudeau within the context of Louisiana’s statutory framework and jurisprudence, along with examining the treatment of negligent credentialing claims around the country.
