German Private and Commercial Law: An Introduction

Book Review by F. F. Stone

This book is a "must" for comparatists, particularly those for whom German is an important but difficult language. A great debt is owed to Professor Horn, Director of the Centre for Inter-disciplinary Research in Bielefield; Professor Kotz, Director of the Max Planck Institute for Foreign and International Private Law of Hamburg; and Professor Leser, Director of the Institute of Comparative Law of Marburg for their collaboration in producing this work. Tony Weir of Cambridge who, as Professor Schmitthoff says so well in his Foreword, put the German text into "impeccable English with consummate skill," is due the further gratitude of English-speaking students.
